The Chösen, the Neo-Pagan War machine founded in 2000. The “Wolfcross” promo was recorded in 2002 and a true black/thrash metal act was born.
In 2004 a full-length album was released, titled: “For the Glory of the Empire”. An album dedicated to ancient Dutch/pagan history and the destruction of monotheistic reign. A live campaign was also undertaken in Belgium, Germany and of course the Netherlands. This was done with acts like Corpus Christii, Aborym, Black Lodge, to name but a few.
But the war didn’t end there and another promo was released in 2008: “Get those Pagan fires burning” with three “new” songs and one rerecorded song. And the live campaign went on until 2009, when all activities ceased.
Blood is thicker than water and even though it took quite a while, The Chösen had to return. As a result, a new full-length was released: “Resistance leading to Strength”. Nine tracks of Neo-pagan thrashing black metal.
And in 2023 live activities have once again commenced, with ‘The one who is many’ on guitars, WAR on drums and ‘He who abandons’ doing vocals and bass guitar. First gig was done at Wolfsonic in Groningen with Cirith Gorgor. Later on the Veneration of the Dead IX at the infamous Baroeg in Rotterdam, Ancient, Hell Militia, Kjeld, Salacious Gods, Omegavortex. Also Germany was visited at the Dark paths festival in Schwedt/Oder, with German legends like Grabak and Maggots.
In 2025 a line-up change was done and a new drummer, ‘He who blots out the sun’, joined the ranks. The new line-up was immediately put to the test live in Schwedt again. Now the process of recording a new full-length has started.
