WMB Voorronde Zuid Holland – Goldwölff

Goldwolff bracht nog niet zo lang geleden hun album ‘Get Fucked’ uit, en nu heeft de band ook de voorronde van de Metal Battle in Baroeg gewonnen met hun heavy rock’n roll. We stelden de band wat vragen om erachter te komen wie ze zijn en wat we verder van hen kunnen verwachten.

Als een koud biertje na een dag hard werken! Meer dan welkom en het smaakt goed!
Voor degene die jullie nog niet kennen: wie zijn jullie en wat doen jullie?
Wij zijn Goldwölff uit Leiden, we maken Heavy Rock ’n Roll met een Southern tintje.
Wat zijn jullie inspiratiebronnen?
Tja, teveel om op te noemen. Ik denk dat wij allemaal wel iets anders inbrengen in Goldwölff, dat maakt ook ons geluid. Om toch wat voorbeelden te geven:
Motörhead, Turbonegro, Waylon Jennings, Pantera en Toby Keith(RIP)… en uiteraard SLAYER.
Waar komt de naam Goldwolff vandaan?
De zanger houdt van wolven, hij heeft zelf ook een wolfhond. De umlaut is een knipoog naar vele bekende bands in het heavy genre, de dubbel f is gewoon esthetisch en daarmee ook een knipoog naar de filosoof en estheticus Christian Wolff. Goud is altijd goed, daarom Gold.
Jullie hebben pas het album ‘Get Fucked’ uitgebracht met een bijzondere liveshow in Nobel. Wat was leuker? Deze voorronde of dat optreden?
Elke show is leuk, of we nu in de Baroeg, een shithole bar of op onze eigen EP- release staan, we gaan voor dezelfde energie en genieten even hard.

Congratulations on your win! How does it feel?
Like a cold beer after a hard day’s work! More than welcome and it tastes good!
For those who don’t know you: who are you and what do you do?
We are Goldwölff from Leiden, we make Heavy Rock ‘n Roll with a Southern twist.
What are your inspirations?
Well, too many to mention. I think we all bring something different to Goldwölff, that also shapes our sound. To give some examples anyway:
Motörhead, Turbonegro, Waylon Jennings, Pantera, and Toby Keith (RIP)… and of course, SLAYER.
Where does the name Goldwolff come from?
The singer loves wolves, he also has a wolfhound himself. The umlaut is a nod to many well-known bands in the heavy genre, the double f is just aesthetic and therefore also a nod to the philosopher and aesthete Christian Wolff. Gold is always good, that’s why Gold.
You recently released the album ‘Get Fucked’ with a special live show at Nobel. What was more enjoyable? This preliminary round or that performance?
Every show is enjoyable, whether we’re at Baroeg, a shithole bar, or at our own EP release, we go for the same energy and enjoy just as much.
