Epinikion is an epic symphonic metal band from the Netherlands, founded in 2020 by Renate de Boer on keys and Robert Tangerman on guitar. What started out as a project with an ambitious rock opera album, has long since evolved into a spectacular and entertaining live act.

After Robert and Renate had ended their top sport careers, Robert came up with the idea to do something in music. The combination of his electric guitar and Renate’s classical piano almost naturally led to the choice for symphonic metal music. As a result of the passion and sports mentality of Robert and Renate, the band evolved rapidly. It gave rise to the need for professional music production.

From the very beginning Epinikion combined heavy guitar riffs with subtle progressive and heavy metal influences, completed with harmonic and bombastic orchestral lines. The typical Epinikion sound is described as ‘epic, cinematic with captivating melodic lines. Refreshing symphonic metal with a personal twist’.

Epinikion is a ‘hymne for the winner’. In Ancient Greece the heroic stories of athletes were sung in an epinikion after their victories at major events. A fitting band name for musicians rising from the ashes of their former sports careers, as reflected by the phoenix in the band’s logo.

The debut album Inquisition was met with critical acclaim from all over the world, and the positive reviews led to a need to bring the music to a live audience, initially with session musicians for the first shows. In 2023 Kimberley Jongen joined the band on vocals, followed by Maarten Jungschläger on lead guitar, and Rutger Klijn on bass. In 2024 Michal Gis joined on drums to complete the permanent lineup, bringing together a group of talented and like minded people.

Ambitious as they are, Epinikion is ready to further evolve their sound. Music for a second album is already in the works, building on the foundations laid down with Inquisition. Epinikion’s unique story continues…

B I O G R A F I E
In the heart of the Northwest of Frisia; Surrecturus was formed by Henk ter Heegde and Ieme van der Veen, by a mutual interest in music mixing and producing. Henk is a renowned and well respected drummer who can also play a multitude of instruments. Ieme is a vocalist who is very well known for his vocal skills and stage performance; both driven by the power of big sounding music they started their journey. They got along very well and a short while after that, they engaged in their own songwriting; and recording it all in their own studio. Very quickly the idea rose to record a complete album, the working title was never changed: Awake and Arise.

Ieme was always driven by the idea of writing a theme based album, regarding the lyrics. And so we travel from Lilith, mother of demons and birth of all evil into the Black Magick trilogy. Starting with the mind control program of the ancient pharaoh’s: Power of the Trivium. Then we dive into the result of mind control: Isolation. Where all light seems gone, we will Arise and Awake from this slumber and travel on to our own old land where we found out, we raped and killed ourselves. Even though Luna was our Queen we killed her out of jealousy and greed. And so even the night will die, we will lose our soul and on the path of our united tears we will walk the soil of our old land and hear her cry….. Will we bring back Baldr or will we witness The rebirth of Lilith….

Welcome to the edgy realm of the Alternative Rock of Klipdrift, where the boundaries blur and the energy flows like a raging torrent. Hailing from diverse corners of the Netherlands.

Formed in 2012 by bassist Nico and drummer Wouter, Klipdrift was born on the precipice, embodying the spirit of the South African saying from which they draw their name – “on the edge.” Over the years, the lineup solidified with the addition of guitarist Remy and vocalist Cees, creating a sonic force to be reckoned with.
